Mirja Sofia Palo

I´m a singer, kantele player and artist living in Jokkmokk, North Sweden. I stem from a finnish speaking minority in the north-east of Norrbotten, Sweden. Even though I´ve lost the language of my ancestors I feel deeply connections with my roots. The instrument is carrying a lot of emotions and communicates with the sorroundings I´m a part of. Jokkmokk is a sámi community where a lot of people speeks different sami dialects. Sámi is also related to my original language and has now also become an important part of my artistic work and daily life. This was manifested through the work with the poems by Paulus Utsi. I think this is the beginning of a new journey of mine. A journey I don´t know yet where it will take me.
